Mark Hempton has enjoyed Province Lake in Effingham since the 1960s. After an education out-of-state (PhD in Geology) and a career as an energy & engineering geologist in California, Texas, and Scotland, he returned to Effingham full-time in 2015. Mark has lifelong interest and experience in renovating old houses, buildings, and trucks. He currently volunteers as the Vice President for the Effingham Preservation Society, a member of the Effingham Planning Board, and Building Manager for the GALA Community Center in Wolfeboro.

Effingham Preservation Society is a 501(c)3 organization established in 1999 to preserve historic buildings and landmarks in Effingham, New Hampshire. The Preservation Society has agreed to be the Fiscal Agent of the Historic Town Hall Project.
