Karen has her Masters in Education degree and is a retired public school teacher who enjoys the out-doors and volunteering.  Her favorite subject is History - that is, when it is taught with stories that illuminate human striving.  She came to preservation through her interest in gardening because she was delivering vegetables for a weekly fundraiser and ended up sitting in on meetings.  She is currently the President of the Effingham Preservation Society (EPS).  The Society received a Commendation from the NH Governor's Commission on Disability and a NH Preservation Alliance Award for rehabilitation projects on their 200-year old building - both during Karen's tenure.   She also serves as a Trustee of the Trust Funds for the Town of Effingham.

Historical Tidbit: The man who helped build the EPS building at age 23 had a hand in building the Historic Town Hall-Library at age 65.
LCHIP
This project was funded in part by a grant from the NH Preservation Alliance, which received support for its grants program from the New Hampshire Land and Community Heritage Investment Program (LCHIP).
