Susan Slack has served in many roles in town government during more than three decades residing in Effingham,  including on the Select Board and Planning Board.     She retired in 2022 after a dozen years as Town Moderator, and currently serves as Chair of the Effingham Historic District & Heritage Commission.     She is a graduate of Ohio University with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism and, following more than a decade as journalist, graduated from Franklin Pierce Law Center in Concord, NH.     Susan was a staff attorney at the New Hampshire Municipal Association, where she advised municipal  governments throughout the state, worked on public land management issues at New Hampshire's state planning office, and retired in 2022 as principal planner at the Lakes Region Planning Commission, where she worked with area municipalities on a variety of community development matters.

Susan is co-founder of the Green Mountain Conservation Group, enjoys the outdoors, is an avid reader, and appreciates the importance of the historical and cultural landscape of rural communities.

Effingham Preservation Society is a 501(c)3 organization established in 1999 to preserve historic buildings and landmarks in Effingham, New Hampshire.  The Preservation Society has agreed to be the Fiscal Agent of the Historic Town Hall Project.
